Cocaine Nights by J.G. Ballard

4.0

Enjoyable, make-your-nose-bleed prescience once again from Ballard, and a pretty deft little murder mystery to boot.

I think one of Ballard's great gifts is the way he never flinches, no matter how grim the subject. The prose arrives alive and immediate - and in some scenes, even nauseatingly so. Trigger warnings galore.

And alarm bells. As with every other book of his I read, I'm more disturbed than entertained. It must have been painful to live inside his consciousness. Murky.

Like a crystal ball in a can of coke saying this will happen, this is happening, this has happened, this is.
