In New York City, two strangers,Amanda and Wendy, meet by chance. Both women harbor intense desires for revenge against the men who shattered their families. Over drinks, they concoct a dangerous pact: ‘If you kill for me, I’ll kill for you.’ Meanwhile, Ruth, alone in her brownstone, faces an intruder with piercing blue eyes. As the tension escalates, secrets unravel, and the women’s lives intertwine in a heart-stopping series of murders and betrayals.

This is the first I’ve read from Steve Cavanaugh, and I enjoyed it! Before I was into fantasy, thrillers were all I read, so I tend to eat them up pretty quickly.  I love a good feminine rage story, but the circumstances that beget the rage are very hard to read, especially if you have little ones, so read with care. This was a case where I enjoyed multiple points of view, when sometimes, I find that it really bogs down the story.

The pacing was quick, and if you look closely enough, you’ll see the twists and turns coming, and I like the aspect of trying to solve things myself as I read. The cast of characters, including police,  all encounter various grey situations as well, which cooks up more intrigue.

The ending was a bit forced feeling, and I did see it coming, but it wasn’t an awful ending. In some ways I liked the choice,  but I also wondered about other potential endings! I’ll be reading more from this author!
