A Wicked Kind of Husband by Mia Vincy

5.0

This is an exemplary modern HR novel! It features complex characters, witty banter, a headstrong FMC, and surprisingly diverse representations of various races and socio-economic backgrounds. The book is historically accurate yet believably progressive. Every character feels realistic and multi-dimensional, with their own life stories that make you want to learn more.

It also reminded me of Gaskell's North and South—the English rose FMC and the industrialist MMC, which I absolutely love! The only downside was that I kept imagining the MMC with a Brummie accent, which, in my opinion, is the least sexy accent on the British Isles. But that's just a matter of personal taste.
