A very sweet novel, non-traditional, quiet in tone without a lot of “action.” The most exciting parts are when the narrator is in proximity to women he is interested in. The best parts are when the narrator is talking about the music he loves. A Künstlerroman, the narrative arc follows a music lover becoming a musician. He is simultaneously learning to live with chronic illness, ME/CFS, and developing a relationship with God and sundry spiritual practices. There’s nothing quite like this book, and I enjoyed it so much.
