I rather enjoyed this little beauty of New Adult? Emerging Adult? Collegiate Sex for Young Adults? I don't what genres these are anymore. More so that the tripe I've read lately it's really sexy and the characters are a lot of fun. Of course they're gorgeous and all the rest of it but I liked that the frothiness was offset but some serious issues (deaths in the family) (dealing with fame). I know college ball is a Big Deal (I've seen Friday Night Lights) but it was nice to see the other side of the story. I also liked that the author tried to be inclusive GAY PEOPLE! Buut not in a token, it was rather thoughtful and nuanced for a novel of this type frankly. There was also some talk about pregnancy and the like and unlike a lot of other novels there is talk of going to a clinic on not just relying on condoms (How Un-American ;) ;)) and seeing what other contraceptive methods there are - could she have suggested something other than the pill? Yes. But well, let's not run before we can walk shall we. Obviously no one of colour but like I said, American (sounds silly that I constantly bring this type of thing up but I am constantly shocked by the lack of diversity in American books in whatever genre - it's like the authors themselves only expose themselves to all -white communities or perpetuate the trope that only white people are the ones worth writing about). I'll take what I can get ;)
