I'm conflicted about how I want to rate this. On one hand, I really enjoyed the characters and the setting--Jasper felt real, like a town I'd come across while driving through Appalacia. I always enjoy a time travel story, and the mystery at the heart of the narrative was intriguing, even though I figured it out early on.
On the other hand, the plot behind the timelines was convoluted and I'm not sure I actually followed what happened. It almost felt like the conflict was resolved too quickly given how slowly the rest of the narrative unfolded, and some plot lines didn't seem to wrap up as nicely as I'd have liked. Probably a 3.75 but I'm going to have to let this one marinate for a bit before I decide.
