The Vaccine: Inside the Race to Conquer the COVID-19 Pandemic by Ugur Sahin, Özlem Türeci, Joe Miller

3.0

I was looking forward to this book as it is contemporary - related to the pandemic, and informative. It teaches about the decision and development process for the Pfizer vaccine for COVID 19. The book explores some of the challenges faced by the developers and goes into the lives of the people involved. It also looks at the bigger picture including the pharmacy industry and the external factors such as economy and politics. The writing style was a bit complex and heavy for the average reader. I'm not a scientist and so I appreciate that the authors tried to simplify the process and descriptions, but it still wasn't something that I would recommend for gen-pop readers who want to know the basics and the real-life side of the vaccine - you definitely can get that but you have to dig in between more complex content to get there. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book.
