The Seven Dials Mystery by Agatha Christie
5.0
adventurous funny mysterious

The Seven Dials is now one of my favorite Agatha Christie novels! Oliver Thompson was a wonderful narrator & I loved his accent. (I'd tried another edition but didn't get far because the narrator had an American accent & the characters say some very British things that sound strange in an American voice.)

One thing I really enjoyed was the humor. Christie usually adds a bit of humor, often self-referencing detective stories, but this also has some truly laugh-out-loud moments. You know it's going to be funny when you hear some of the characters' names: Bundle, Pongo, Lady Coote, & Socks (she's a human, not a cat). & everyone's "an ass."

Another interesting thing is that, even though it's a Superintendent Battle story, most of the investigating is done by Bundle & her friends. I really enjoyed the amateur sleuth angle.

A group of friends decide to play a prank one of their friends who is a chronic oversleeper. When the prank goes horribly wrong, Bundle & her friends decide to investigate on their own, but nothing is as it seems. The more she investigates, the more she realizes this case has threads that go deeper & farther than anyone could've imagined.
