I was really looking forward to reading this as some of the bloggers I enjoy had recommended it highly. It might just be post-brexit blues, but the author paints a picture of England that exists only in the imagination (yes, I realise this is a novel, but other cosy whodunnits were written at a time when parts of what he describes still existed, and they "work", this just didn't). Also I found it hard to believe in Flavia - some of what she claimed to know didn't match with other things she didn't. There are incredibly clever children out there, but she just didn't ring true. I am very sorry about this, and I will try another in the series, but this one was disappointing.
