The Long Way Home
by Louise Penny
There’s a time after you have read a lot of novels in a short period that you find yourself unable to get into anything. You start one book , put it down, try another, and put that down too. It’s at a time like this that I return to Louise Penny and the Gamache series to get over my readers ‘block’. “The Long Way Home” certainly helped in my recovery, and, as always, I enjoyed the general flow of the narrative, but, for me, it wasn’t up there with the best of them. Maybe part of the reason was because it centered on my least favorite Three Pines characters, and maybe because the initial murder method just didn’t convince. Not the best, but not to be missed either. Just also wanted to thank the friend who has badgered me into listening to the audiobook versions read by Ralph Cosham. I started the series again listening to the audiobooks and have now just finished number 4. Cosham really nails it.
