Half Broke Horses: A True-Life Novel by Jeannette Walls
4.0
CW: corporal punishment of children (beatings), assault, use g*psy slur.
This was pretty good. Almost as good as Glass Castles, but it did drag a bit in a couple of places - but that feels almost unfair to say because this story is just so fascinating. Lily was one hell of a woman and lived an incredibly interesting life.
It made me sad to realize that this woman was the one who raised Jeannette's mother - which is honestly unbelievable - but it explains how Jeannette was able to save and raise herself.
More later.
