The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan

5.0

As soon as I started this book, I realized that what kept me from enjoying "The Lost Hero" as much as other Riordan's other books in the Lightning Thief series was the absence of Percy Jackson. Reading "The Son of Neptune" with Percy as a main narrator was so enjoyable and like coming home to the other books that I've read.

Percy wakes up to find himself in an unknown location and completely amiss for who he is, what he's in the middle of doing, etc. Similar to the situation that Jason Grace found himself in "The Lost Hero." This book basically filled readers in on what Percy was up to during the time of Jason's quest from Camp Half-Blood. Percy finds himself similarly out of place in the Roman Camp Jupiter and must prove himself through a quest to stop the giant Alcyoneus from awaking in Alaska, the land beyond the gods.

The story also includes portions narrated by two new Roman characters, Hazel Levesque and Frank Zhang. They are welcome new additions and will be joining Percy on the Great Prophecy group of 7 demigods in the next installment of the series.

Loved this and highly recommend it to any fans of Riordan's other works!
