The Eternity Code by Eoin Colfer
4.0

Mr. Colfer's ability to weave intricate levels of subterfuge is truly masterful. The depths of Artemis Fowl's genius appear limitless, even as additional glimpses of emotion peek through his careful facade. Where some series tend to drift into a rut when it comes to primary, and even secondary, characters, Mr. Colfer takes great care to structure new dimensions with his cast, keeping them fresh with each turn. It's refreshing, especially in this particular genre. I will say the sudden references of the diary were confusing, especially as they didn't appear in previous volumes.
SpoilerWith the exception of the Epilogue, where at least an explanation was provided.
I understand the need to provide backstory and additional glimpses into Artemis's state of mind, but they felt choppy and out of place. As a whole, though, Mr. Colfer continues to deliver a delightful juvenile antihero.
