Het geheim van Villa Argo by Pierdomenico Baccalario, Yond Boeke

5.0

Read this book today and I am already a big fan of this series. Note: I read the book in Dutch and have no idea how well it has been translated into other languages (original language of the book is Italian). I bought the 10th book in the series a while ago and after reading the first book, I definitely plan to buy the rest of the series.

In the reviews, I see some disagreement about the genre of the book. Personally, I think the book is mostly mystery-based. It definitely has a bit of fantasy and a lot of adventure. The book is quite simply written, but to be honest, I appreciate this in middle grade books. It's a fast-paced read filled with mysteries and adventures, which is fun to read even as an adult. I think I would have enjoyed this book immensely as a child. Even though I was never (and still am not) a mystery reader. It gave me 'Het huis Anubis' vibes (the Dutch and Belgians among us might understand this). But one of my favourite things is the dynamics in the group, they are all equals, they are all captains and there is no sibling rivalry. Each has something that the other lacks which make them a very good team. I find this refreshing, often when I read books with twins there is fighting for attention etc.
