Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery
4.0

I feel like a bad person. I LOVED Anne of Green Gables and saw so much of myself in her, and in the second book I enjoyed it too - but honestly, the part of these later books that I've been the most excited about was between her and Gilbert - which this book DID deliver on. As far as the other stuff, well, it was alright. Gosh I feel shallow.

I guess what really bothered me about her college experience that other than the being poor and having some good friends, it was extremely lacking any sort of narrative or development. So much of my college experience was the classes and the horror and success of surviving them, while this was "And they worked hard and she schooled them all with her brilliance" - and that was it.

Ok, there was one other thing that was VERY important in this book - and that's Anne learning what daydream happiness is from what actually makes you happy.

I feel bad for not loving this book with a passion like I did the first book - but oh my goodness I'm so glad that they finally got together at the end! I mean, it's not a spoiler because YOU KNOW IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN, but still, man - that was intense.
