Relish: My Life in the Kitchen by Lucy Knisley
3.0
“I was working alongside musicians, artists, actors, and students who had finagled jobs there because they, too, loved the fancy food they couldn’t afford.”
But, Lucy…it seems like you COULD afford said fancy food. The last 120 pages would indicate that you could.
Knisley clearly has an appreciation for food and tells a really loving story about how it connected her to her family (and herself), but as another reviewer said, all the “poor college kid” and “rickety clunker” comments sandwiched between descriptions of Michelin star restaurants, gourmet meals, and international vacations just turned me further and further off from it.
However, I did really like the inclusion of recipes, and I will be trying the chocolate chip cookie recipe from the end of chapter 3.
