A Power Unbound by Freya Marske

5.0

The immediate and visceral connection I felt towards this book (and particularly one Jack Alston) should be studied. This book was written For Me™️ and I could not have been any happier.

Freya commands a very masterful prose, both her lush descriptions of setting and costume, and the way she is able to collect and present deep intrinsic emotion with heart-punching lines.

Despite the historical fantasy suit this series wears, A Power Unbound really opened my eyes to how relatable this story is - about family, about duty to the land, about interpersonal connection, about sacrifice.

From beginning to end I have deeply enjoyed this series, and while I’m very sad to be through, I will carry it with me for a long, long time.
