The Secret Hour by Scott Westerfeld

3.0

One thing that I enjoyed from Midnight Hour immensely was the detail. The 39-letter phrases, 13-letter words, and the longitude and latitude thing that Dess pulled off. I really, really, did not like Melissa. She was a bitch and I tired of her constant attitude. The romance between Jonathan and Jessica was bland. It felt like it was thrown at me instead of me being eased into the romance. Their romance is just: introduction, cute boy/girl, hang out together, why not go out together? I didn't see the sparks, chemistry, or anything. I hate those kinds of romances. The two of them did not click to me. The only character I truly enjoyed was Dess {partly because she's named Desdemona}. She's a polymath and does wonders with everything related to numbers {obviously}. I love the idea behind the Midnighters series, but I'm not crazy about how it was pulled off. I will stick to this series until I get bored of it.
