The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois by Honorée Fanonne Jeffers
4.0

An epic of one family's journey from slavery to a doctoral student in the 21st century. An homage to genealogy as well. Really digs deep and shows the interconnected lives of slaves and their oppressors. So many blacks had slave master ancestors, the genealogy gets very confusing. There is a helpful chart in the front of the book though. A long read but well told.
