i wasn't sure what was happening with the fade to black for the first half, i thought Therese was getting played with. i was disappointed by the ending at first, but at book club someone made me appreciate it. Therese and Carol ended up defying expectations of myself, Richard, and likely of the audience in the 1950s. if i were Therese's friend, i would've stopped her because she was so impulsive throughout, and Danny seemed ready and good for her.
