Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover

4.0

As usual, CoHo have her ways to leave a memorable ending for her novels. That ending touched my heart in all the right places.

This novel centers Beyah, a young adult who probably had enough struggles to last her a lifetime. When her mother died of an overdose, she reluctantly decided to spend summer with her dad, who she didn't really know and vice versa, before she leaves for college. That summer turned her life around.

I really loved how Beyah's character was introduced in this novel. That was such a strong and interesting start. Her background really explains why she would be drawn to Samson. On the surface, their story feels rushed and shallow but when you really think about where these two characters were coming from, you'd know why they needed each other.

However, for a CoHo novel, this felt underwhelming me for me. Don't get me wrong, she's still one of my favorite authors. But after reading All Your Perfects, Verity and Layla, I had so much expectations.

I still have big appreciation for this one, though. I was just so intrigued about Beyah and Samson's own personal struggles and I hope I could've read more about them.

The ending was phenomenal but it felt kind of rushed for me. Well because pleaseeeee, I WANT MOREEEEE
