a woman scorned, the woman destroyed... heavily disagreed with the choices Monique makes in the titular story, which made for a slightly frustrating read — but then again, i'm not middle-aged in a failing 20-year marriage solely held up by fond echoes of times past. and still, de Beauvoir brings such beautiful shape to feminine melancholy through all three stories.
