Moby-Dick: Or, the Whale by Herman Melville
4.0

I’ve been out of high school for a decade and looking back I can only remember reading two or three books for classes. I sometimes get this urge to read those books now which I probably should have read then, so I got around to this. I’ve heard stories about how boring this book is or gets in parts, but I was fully entertained for most of it. The story is good and memorable (although its pretty well known by now), but I liked the added information even more. I think the cetology chapter is one of the best (I mention this because it seems to be the chapter most people hate); I even got on the internet afterwards and spent a few hours searching out more information about the different types of whales. If anything the extra information about whaling adds much more to the story than takes away from the pace (besides, the whaling information is often very much part of the story). Anyways, this book was good and I’m glad that I got around to reading it. I might pick it up and read it again in a few years.
