The book is cute and a fast read but the murder mystery set up is too unbelievably boring.
The suspects are not set up well, the misdirections are too obvious and the final wrap up gave no satisfaction.
The only redeeming quality is the slightly quirky humor of the main character, the parents interactions and the parrot and the dogs are adorable.

At no point was I invested in Dray’s murder or his murderer as there was no reason for me to care for the character. There was no character building for any of the main characters or suspects expect for Kay and her observations of a few people. Also there was excessive explanation of the same plot points multiple times and I don’t really want an account of everything a dog does when it’s on a walk. That just had me distracted from the main story.

Overall it’s a light read but wouldn’t pick it up for the murder mystery part of it.
