Still a very good strong read. I loved the work Ethan did to help Piper become more comfortable. there was no easy fixes here, and work was done.

And that is how you do it.

I love a storyline that involves a character overcoming abuse to understand and accept their worth as a person. Done well it is the best thing to read and this one is one of the best.

Piper at a young age was taken in by the honey promises of an abusive man and entered into a master/slave relationship. After suffering horrific abuse she meets another Dom at a party that lets her know the contract she signed is not binding or legal. Piper escapes and restarts her life in San Francisco, but the scars of that time remain including her fear of dominant men and BDSM. Unfortunately for her she also isn’t attracted to vanilla men.

I enjoyed that Piper’s business stemmed from her need to be of service to people and she used that to create a successful business.

Her fear of dominant men was well done and I really enjoyed that time was taken to work through her issues. Ethan was fantastic regarding her and slowly introducing more and more of the BDSM into their lives. He also had trust issues and once their issues bumped against each other, but Ethan was further into recovery and had dealt with his issues, so he was more able to quickly discard conflicting information and ferret out the truth.

All of the dominants quickly understood the need to tread carefully and treated her with respect. There were times of playfulness which was also really good as it showed the other side.

I read a lot of m/m and it was fantastic to see the way Stan and Dix’s relationship was portrayed in this one. They weren’t inserted just as the token gay couple, their story was intertwined and woven so well into the storyline that it just added a whole other level for me.

This makes me want to revisit some of the other books again.
