When I heard that Martha Hall Kelly had created a novella for Audible Originals, I knew I had to listen to it. I read her first book Lilac Girls last year and really loved it. The Munich Cowboys Cheerleaders is a very different story from Lilac Girls, but if you like Kelly’s writing style, you’ll likely enjoy this one too.
The Munich Cowboys Cheerleaders is at its core a story about hard work and perseverance, and also building the life you want. Prior to listening to this story, I had no idea that American football and cheerleading had become popular in Germany in the 1990s. I liked following the path of the cheerleaders, despite obstacles they had to overcome, and I liked that Kathy Murray, the coach, coauthored the novella—it is her story, after all! This is a story with heart and is a quick listen at right around 2.5 hours.
