The Choice
by Nora Roberts
Unpopular opinion, I really enjoyed the mundane day to day things Breen and friends went through throughout this series. It had me grinning from ear to ear. And when Breen and Marco give Sally birthday presents, I was in tears as Marg's letter was read by Sally. It was such a beautiful moment, and there were lots like it sprinkled everywhere in this story.
But I can't bring myself to rate this 5 stars when I really would have, but there were some glaring things I could not ignore.
After all the day to day things, from Breen writing her books, Marco cooking and being the best side character, we get what felt like a rushed ending and things wrapped up rather quickly after all the build up.
Quite frankly, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Keegan. He fell flat for me, he wasn’t swoon worthy and needed more to his character growth to be worthy of such a woman as Breen..
Then to top it off Breen and Keegan confessing their love in the epilogue was a little too late for me. They were both stubborn but should have had some chat about their feelings and future much sooner.. and then the epilogue should have instead been Marco's wedding day.. and Sally and Derrick meeting Marg. If it wasn’t for the fact that I truly enjoyed the first two books and first half of this book, I would have gotten rid of these books, that’s how off putting that ending is for me. I just feel cheated like the author had given up writing us not only a better male MC but an ending with big crocodile tears over Marco’s wedding.. I think I could forgive Keegan’s lackluster character if we had gotten a better epilogue that whatever the crap that was.
