this book is all style and no substance, but it’s masterful in its style. beneath the genderless characters-experiment and the gorgeous prose, I didn’t find this to be a truly great STORY. the characters were hollow, the narrator’s tone was static and the emotionless despite constant reminders that they were feeling strong emotions, and it all felt distant. that being said, I think the author and translator both did a beautiful job at what they were intending to do.
