For the Love of Friends
by Sara Goodman Confino
A delightful book about 32 year old Lily Weiss who is invited to be a bridesmaid in 5 weddings, 2 of which are her siblings. Lily is trying to be a good friend and accommodate all the brides' wishes but their demands are getting overwhelming not only for her sanity and bank balance but also on her self esteem. In order to vent about the unpleasant situation Lily finds herself in, she decides to write a blog called Bridesmania where she writes about her horrible experiences as a bridesmaid anonymously. But what is anonymity in today's day of tracking IP addresses and digital footprints?
Lily Weiss is such a realistic character. I did not like her always in the story but I loved her the whole time. She is flawed like any of us, she is judgmental and she is jealous at times. She drinks too much sometimes and makes bad decisions. But her heart is in the right place and she tries to make restitution. She was relatable and the girl next door. I love books when characters are real enough to step off the pages and I felt Lily Weiss was just that.
