xxxHolic, Vol. 1 by CLAMP

5.0

I started reading this years ago when I was in high school and I finally was able to complete my collection of this series about a year ago.

I. LOVE. THIS. SERIES.

It seemed like CLAMP crawled into my mind and found exactly what I wanted to read about: magic, monsters, food, humor, angst, unresolved romantic affection, Japanese high school kids. It's just so good. The atmosphere of the manga is alternately funny, creepy, sweet, and heart breakingly sad. I love it.

Granted, it can be a little confusing at times, especially toward the end of the series. It crosses over with nearly all of CLAMP's works, but especially so with Tsubasa, which I have not read. I was still able to follow along without any knowledge of what was happening, but I'm pretty sure I would have gotten more out of the experience had I been familiar with that series at all.

But still, it's my all-time favorite manga series and I love it so much, I even bought the anime (which is something I haven't bought in a while). I highly recommend this title.
