The plot line of this one was a bit slower than the first one — everything doesn’t begin to unravel until 95% of the way through. I also wasn’t a fan of how this one was (slightly) more graphic than the previous novel in the descriptions; one of the things I really liked about the previous book was how minimal they kept the graphic bits. This one isn’t terrible, but it is worse and I wasn’t a fan of that particular writing style change.
I listened to the audiobook, but apparently the physical copy has staged photos that would’ve likely added to the experience.
All in all, a bit dry, and I doubt I’ll read the third book, but maybe someone who 5-stared the first novel (I’d given it 4 stars) will like this more than I did.
