Jurassic Park / The Lost World by Michael Crichton

5.0

I rate it damn near perfect, on a fluctuating scale. Jurassic Park and it’s sequel were once published together as a single story, Jurassic World (unrelated to the god awful sequel franchise), but you can clearly tell the difference in story telling. For the first half, I had an overwhelming sense of awe, as though I couldn’t believe I was finally reading this masterpiece, while the Lost World became an underwhelming experience. That second half was very much pandered towards children due to a realigned focus on the younger characters. Still, and as a whole, Crichton’s fantasies were based on a lot of research into science-fact, making for an educational cautionary tale that remains very much relevant to society’s gross dependance on advancing technologies. #jurassicpark #readingrainbow
