I really enjoyed the third book in this series. I was also exhausted and tired and confused by the end, much like Violet Sorrengail. 😂
There were so many trips and battles (battle of wits, battle between leaders and Violet/Xaden +team, etc) that I started feeling like I was on a journey with Ang the Last Airbender. I got lost in several places. A lot of new characters were introduced, I felt like I could figure out who was important to remember and who I could forget because so many of them kept appearing!
I appreciated the different POV chapters in the last battle but tbh, I got confused more because I didn't know what was happening with Violet.
There was also a lot of use of "she" and "him" which got confusing because Yarros used if vaguely during dreams and battles and sometimes I felt like those pronouns were supposed to be Violet and Xaden but then they were for other characters.
I was left with A LOT of questions at the end. Aric, Sloan, Imogen, "don't come looking for me. they're yours now." And then "What You asked me to." And. BAM THE END?! 😮💨
I was a little bummed with the less sexy time we saw with V and X because in Iron Flame we had some good scenes but Violet was annoying. This time around we got Xaden being cautious, which is amazing and sweet but also, there was a moment for a great throne scene that was just glossed over... And with all the battles and all the fights and all the twists and turns, it would have been nice to have a second throne scene.
I was very confused with the final chapter because there's gaps I Violet's memory and I'm confused on what time means, like how many days has it been or has it really only been hours? I don't want to wait a year for the next book but. . . That's really up to me. I am impatiently waiting for the next book. 🐉 📚
