And Then You by Briar Prescott
4.0
I’ve been dying for a book about Steph since reading [b:Until You|124930425|Until You (Until #1)|Briar Prescott|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1680280585l/124930425._SY75_.jpg|146346468] earlier this year and I was so excited to dive into this one!
Steph Hartley is the life of the party, not taking things seriously, moving from job to job and city to city as he feels like it and making jokes along the way. But he’s constantly hiding a secret from even his best friends, something that affects him more than he’s willing to admit. Quinn Henris is Steph’s opposite in so many ways - he’s a retired Olympic swimmer who owns a swim school and teaches classes. He’s put together, comes from a big, supportive family and he’s a tough nut to crack - more stoic than friendly most of the time.
These two are in the same friend group and frequently find themselves in the same places, but don’t like each other very much, so when Quinn tells his family that he and Steph are dating, things get interesting, forcing them together for his family vacation. Even though they’re opposites and kind of enemies, they click on an unexpected level when they’re together and feel safe and happy in each other’s presence. The burn on this one is really slow but things burned fast and bright once they get together. I was hoping for a bit more suspense and maybe bigger reveals (more similar to Until You) when they finally talked about their big secrets - they were big but didn’t feel as weighty as I was anticipating.
Loved seeing little glimpses of Jude and Blake together and seeing Blair, Nora and Hazel again. This friend group is so much fun to read and always makes me smile.
Can’t wait to see what Briar Prescott comes up with next!
