I REALLY wanted to love this book as much as Divine Rivals, but it fell flat and I found myself struggling to finish. There were some obvious missed opportunities to ramp up the tension and stakes, including being able to parallel Divine Rivals’ plot in an interesting way, but this book resolved some narratives too fast, ignored other narratives entirely, and resulted in a predictable, not entirely satisfying conclusion.
