Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

5.0

This was SO FREAKING GOOD. How Weir made me fall in love with a spider-like extraterrestrial I will never know! The friendship between Grace and Rocky is just so heart-warming.

Ever the science nerd, I geeked out for most of this novel. Weir is pretty good with his biology - cannot confirm on the physics side of things but it seemed pretty accurate. My only main qualm was the argument to fill Earth's atmosphere with methane temporarily as it will degrade in a short time period, removing the greenhouse gas component from the atmosphere... However, methane decomposes into carbon dioxide, so the greenhouse contributor would still be in play.

Adored this. More Grace/Rocky shenanigans!
