The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle
3.0

So while I enjoy this book I want to preface this by saying that this style of book is usually my cup of tea, which is why I gave it three stars.

Overall, the writing style is enjoyable and the way that Conan Doyle crafts the mysteries that Holmes has to solve is masterful. Especially the way that he writes out Sherlock’s reasoning is incredible. Clearly he is extremely intelligent and the fact that he makes it simple yet complicated points to Conan Doyle’s mastery of his craft and well as a genuine understanding of logic.

While I started to predict the answers to the mysteries, I could still not get all of the answer and that might be because I read these twelve short stories in a small space fo time. But nonetheless, sometimes I was still pleasantly surprised by Sherlock’s final reasoning as to what went down in whatever mystery he was faced with.

One of my favourite parts of the book was that it was from Watson’s perspective and his admiration for Sherlock shone through and made me really respect and like a character that would otherwise be a very unlike able character.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book but it just wasn’t quite my cup of tea.
