I tried to read this once a few years ago and got maybe halfway through. Listening was a lot easier. First of all, Andy Serkins is a great narrator and I absolutely love listening to him. He really made the book come to life.
However, I find it quite boring at times. It drags on with things I don't care about or find exciting. There's a lot of descriptions that last for minutes and I eventually zone out. I probably missed at least an hour of the book in total due to that and that's also why it's 3.75 stars. I will say that my fave part of the book is the riddle game between Bilbo and Gollum. That was really fun to listen to.
Re-read:
This was just a thrill to re-read. To listen to again and just fall in love with the world all over again and the character. I think I liked it more this time around. Will forever be bitter about the ending (it is not bad, I just get sad).
