Not-so-great book about an important subject. Vietnam’s history does all the heavy lifting for this book. Otherwise, it’s a pretty badly written book imo. Tells, doesn’t show. Shoehorns a lot of proverbs into the narrative too. Nowhere as emotionally rich as Pachinko.
