5.0

Arguably too much of this volume is spent on politics and especially Sutherland. But really, this volume sets the stage perfectly for the finale. The undead soldiers of Ramza are an issue across the continent, a force that drives so many people to their exeunt from the story, and the emotional fallout of the last volume's events becomes evident in ways I prayed some deux ex machina would avoid.

At first I was annoyed that this volume spent so much time away from Olivia and Claudia, but I think in the end it worked out great. At once there is so much to look forward to in the next volume and there is one event it's all driving towards.
