I got this from the Amazon First Reads promotion and was honestly expecting a lighthearted rom-com. This book was not that. It was much better: it delved into important issues like assimilation into American culture, coming out stories, and parental expectations. Mira’s development is heartwarming and by the end of the book she’s transformed into someone I’d want in my life (I found her a little annoying at the start). The book is beautifully written and made me tear up towards the end. I would certainly recommend it to others (I finished it in less than a day) and hope to read more of Dev’s work!
