I know a lot of people don’t like Cesar. I have not personally observed enough to know whether his tactics are good or bad. This book was insightful despite the fact that all dog trainers I know said not to listen to him. I do think there is a lot to the notion that we need to be strong leaders in our homes with our pets. Strong compassionate leaders are important with pets and people alike. His advice here for the most part especially when it comes to walking and feeding dogs don’t actually contradict what my dog trainers have told me (despite their warning to avoid). So who’s to know... I don’t ascribe to trying to be dominant or abusive, but to me being a leader is a good thing.
And lastly, the biggest gain ai got from this book is that your emotions/state of mind have a huge impact on your dog. I wonder why my
Dog is neurotic... well if I spent some time on self reflection I could identify that I’m a bit neurotic myself. So there you go.
