Arranged Vacancy by Irene Bahrd
3.0
This is the first book in a new series for Irene, and I have read a few of Irene's other books. There is to be a political alliance between Chris and Jaclyn, Chris for furthering his career all the way to the White House, and Jaclyn, who is deemed the perfect "First Lady". Jaclyn is touted as having her own abilities and could easily be in the top job herself, however this could have been written about more to truly showcase her strength.
Their wedding day is a staged performance, with elements of everything Jaclyn would not want, and is thrown into disarray by the no show of the groom, who finds himself in an interesting "accidental predicament". So to keep those political plans in place, in steps his twin brother Alex. Alex has is own political career, opposite to the thoughts and standpoints of Chris, but was the one with a backbone, truth, justice and the American Way.
The spice, as with Irene's books, spiced you good and proper, and Alex is truly delicious. The book continues on to the honeymoon, to save face for Chris, while he recovers, and then Chris appears to try and smooth things over with Jaclyn, and actually try to have a "true marriage" with her. Now the ending was all sorts of twisted for me, and I am unsure how I feel about it. If anything, my interest now falls to Book 2, dare I say. I love Irene's books, but this was only okay for me.
