If you love constant battle scenes, this is for you.
Throughout the series I was waiting for the group to find some kind of community. Which they did, but they so dramatically underused it. The combined magic of the clans could have done so much more. The original magic system is awesome, although not used to its full potential. The two new magic systems are the same: awesome and underutilized.
I love the militant struggle and the community building but it would have been nice to see some emotion and connection off the battle field to make it believable.
Even though they finally stand in community, each character thinks they are the one to do it all, save it all, be responsible for all and it gets to be annoying (it was annoying after book one, though)
I had trouble with the multiple perspectives over the last books but it was done beautifully in this one.
Black girls carrying the weight of the world is powerful but not something to look up to.
Extra .25 star for the gay 🌈
