I will admit this book started off very slow and for a while I was wondering what the point was. But suddenly I found myself so enthralled, and really got attached to the characters and the writing. The prose was fantastic, and I loved the elements of history and family. If you love extremely plot driven books then this one probably isn't for you, but the writing made it memorable for me. The red chandelier metaphor absolutely broke my heart.
