Far from You by Lisa Schroeder

I loved this book. It was a quick read and, for how short it was, emotionally powerful. This book made me cry for several reasons. One of my favourite things about it was that the main character (Alice) decided that instead of blaming God for the horrible things that happened to her, she found strength in her faith and it carried her through no matter what happened. I find too often in our society that people do the opposite, and lose their faith when they really need it the most. That being said, it is not an in-your-face religious story, and I would strongly recommend this to anyone whether they were religious or not.

This book touches on several issues almost every teen goes through - family, friendship, romantic relationships, anger, sadness, loss, change - and deals with them in both negative and positive ways. It shows that yes these things will happen, you don't have to deal with them on your own, and you can get through it.
