The Mating
by Nicky Charles
What happened to feminism, to recognising sexual assault for what it is? What happened to No means No, no excuses!!
Also, if a woman chooses to remain a virgin, so be it. But no one has the right to dictate or force such a choice upon another. Further, Do As Your Told, or be isolated, bereft, alone, in danger, threatened, destitute. WOW, that's sick!
It is so upsetting to know that such books still continue to be written, that such rubbish is still presented as acceptable.
It's no wonder that stat's of rape and sexual assualt against women are so high, and still continue to be under-reported, when stories like this are teaching readers the right and wrong of such...
It makes me so mad! And so sad, I feel so helpless. How can we hope to ever truly believe we will ever be safe, when women themselves are creating justifications? Are romanticising something so horrific and terrifying?
If this is your fantasy, so be it, but name it for what it is!! Don't gloss it up, don't re-name it, in an attempt to hide YOUR issues. Own them, that's fine, no judgement there. Just as long as your honest, and acknowledge that outside of fantasy and role playing, this is NOT acceptable! Is in fact ILLEGAL, for very GOOD, SOUND, and JUSTIFIABLE reasons!
Okay, calm and fair. If this had stated it contained such scenes, had called them for what they were, and where such behaviour in reality [repeat above] fits.. It wouldn't be to my taste, I'd still definitely have issue, but I'd be content to say it's a matter of personal taste.
We are all untitled to our own tastes and issues. Whatever floats your boat, so long as it doesn't impinge upon another's rights or safety...
The author failed her readers BIG TIME!! Failed every woman who's ever been assaulted, or feared such!
