At first I wasn't sure this would be my cup of tea – I found the exposition a little clunky at the start, and I wanted more detail about the world, like what an equimaris looks like and what exactly the level of technology was. I really liked the letters themselves, though there was one scene that was so beat-for-beat what happens in You've Got Mail that I wasn't sure how much the stories would diverge. On the whole, though, I got invested and had a fun time reading. A few of the side characters were great (I loved Pen and the nimkilims), and there's a chapter near the end that was just absolutely lovely.
