Other People's Things
by Kerry Anne King
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, partly because one of the characters has my name:), but primarily because it's an inspiring story about learning to claim your gifts even when they don't feel like gifts, even when these gifts exile you from "normal" polite society. I often enjoy books where nothing happens and intense drama is kept to a minimum, so I was unsure that I would love reading a book about a woman who's tendency to take things that don't belong to her puts her on the wrong side of the law, her husband and her family. But Kerry Ann King has a delightful way of putting her very likeable female protagonist in dicey situations while carrying the reader along with a lightness that means we don't have to get mired in trauma drama. This is simply an enjoyable story about finding a soul family, facing up to and righting past mistakes and finding a way to bring your gifts to the community.
