One Day in December by Josie Silver

I need to be done with holiday themed romances, and maybe all romances in general.

Laurie looks out a bus window one December day and becomes psychotically obsessed with the guy she locks eyes with. That guy ends up being her BFF/ roommate'a new boyfriend. Over the next ten years, Jack and Laurie tip toe around their true feelings and waste so much time being boring.

Things I like:
- all loose ends get tied up.
- the plot covered more than just romance. I did enjoy how it touched on grief and the evolution of friendship.

Things I didn't like:
-the length. It was unnecessarily long.
- every character in this book. I did not find one person likeable or relatable. Laurie was so boring and blah. She had no spark or drive and everyone acted like she was the best. She was flat and did not evolve.
- the writing. I almost DNF'd this book after fifty pages because it was so bad. Laurie was straight up obsessed with this stranger. This book took the "love at first sight trope" way beyond anything reasonable. She was infatuated with a man she didn't know and then continued to be in love with for years. She just continued to be a supporting character in her own life. Then, she'd get upset and shocked when things didn't work out? Nothing I hate more than a victim narrative. Her love for Jack was so unrealistic and so, so whiny. I absolutely hated her POV/ voice, just everything.
